Is it is no secret, 2021 was a record-breaking year for real estate around the United States and especially Florida. The firm represented buyers, sellers, borrowers, and lenders in transactions of a total value exceeding $525 million in 2021. While most of the the firm’s representation involved transactions in Miami-Dade and Broward County, the firm also advised clients in other areas of the Florida such as Palm Beach, Monroe, Marion, Hillsborough, Brevard, and Collier counties. Additionally, the firm represented clients in commercial transactions in Texas, New York, Illinois, and Puerto Rico.
Some of the firm’s most notable 2021 transactions include: representing the purchaser of a 500,000 square foot 560-unit multifamily complex in Houston, Texas, representing the seller of a bay front development site in North Bay Village, representing the purchaser of a 189-unit Broward County multifamily portfolio, and representing the Seller of two adjacent ultra-luxury single family development parcels for $20 million.
While much of our work is spent on commercial transactions, the firm still places pride on its practice in representing buyers, borrowers, and sellers of single-family homes. The firm is proud of its work over 2021 welcoming countless amount of new South Florida residents and homeowners, from first time homeowners, to seasoned property owners looking for a second or third home in South Florida. Many of the firm’s clients in 2021 came from all over the United States, from New York to Boston, and Chicago to San Francisco, we welcome those clients to South Florida.
Outside of real estate, the firm also has been busy in the court room, albeit often times a virtual court room. The firm successfully defended a real estate investor in an appeal in the Third District Court of Appeal in a property line and real estate investment suit, where the Third District Court of Appeal affirmed the trial court’s ruling in favor of our client on all counts. Pena v. Rincon,3D19-2225, 2021 WL 4446939, –So.3d– (Fla. 3d DCA 2021). Additionally, the firm received a judgment in our homeowner client’s favor in a dispute between the homeowner and HOA, finding that the HOA’s enforcement lien and violations were not proper under Florida law. Poinciana Gardens Homeowners Ass’n, Inc. v. Sakraney (TR), 2021 WL 2451593, Case No: 2019-026009-CA-01. Finally, the firm has represented landlord’s in over 100 eviction actions in 2021 in the tri-county area, which include residential and commercial leasing matters.
We will be busy at work through the end of year for year-end matters, along with gearing up for transactions that are in-line for early 2022.
